Taking care of your water use fixtures will make them last longer and run properly. Using the following methods will ensure you are getting the most for your money!
Water Heater Care
Electric Tanked Heaters:
1. Every Two years flush heater. Do NOT drain heater.
2. Every Five to Seven years change thermostat(s) and heating elements(s).
3. Every Ten years change relief valve and wire nuts.
Gas Tanked Heaters:
1. Every Two years flush heater. Do NOT drain heater.
2. Every Five to Seven years have burner assembly and pilot light assembly tested.
Tankless Gas/Electric Heaters:
1. Every Two to Three years flush heater and clean with Tankless Heater solution.
Toilet Care
Toilets:
1. Never place anything in your toilet bowl that you would not place in a childs mouth! In other words don't place anything in your toilet bowl that did not come with it out of the box.
2. Every One to Two years change your flushing seal. The flush seal may be a flapper, seal assembly or a rubber disc seal.
3. Change your fill valve every Five years.
4. Only flush toilet paper and human waste down your toilet. Do NOT flush any wipes, napkins, pads, kitty litter or debris down the toilet. Except for toilet paper it must of entered your mouth first before it goes in the toilet.
Various Plumbing Items
Water Softeners must be serviced every Five years.
Garbage Disposals need ice to sharpen the blades.
Kitchen drains do not like coffee grounds.
Bathroom sink drains stay unclogged longer when you use hot water.
Tub and shower drains stay unclogged longer when your use bleach occasionally(except if you use a septic tank).
Dishwashers will be ruined if you do not use them at least once a month. The seals dry out and leak.
